Brinchang, also known as Berincang, is a town located in Cameron Highlands in the state of Pahang, Malaysia. The town is currently the biggest town in Cameron Highlands and seats several hotels, night markets, military camps, public service and commercial centres. The people here are mainly Chinese. It is the second tourist town in Pahang after Tanah Rata. One of its attractions is the Night Market available during weekends and the Malaysian school holidays, where many vegetable stalls and food stalls are set up.
The Night Market which is locally known as the ‘Pasar Malam’ is a prominent shopping heaven among visitors that lights up Brinchang Town every Thursday to Sunday from 5pm to approximately 3am. This Asiatic bazaar occupies both sides of the roads slightly north of town. Here, native products of Cameron Highlands such as vegetables, strawberries, fruits, ornamental plants, tea blends and colourful souvenirs are sold lavishly. Besides being a shopping heaven for all the shopaholics, it is also a food heaven. It is an alluring display of hawkers from different cultures with multiple varieties of mouth-watering food.
Gunung Brinchang, is the second highest peak in Cameron Highlands at 2031 metres (6663 ft.) after Gunung Irau (210 metres, 9223 ft.). The road connecting Gunung Brinchang and Federal Route "59" at Brinchang is the highest motorable tarmac road in Malaysia. Standing at 2031m, it is visible from most parts of Tanah Rata and Brinchang with a telecommunications tower on the peak. The summit offers a great panorama of the surrounding areas. It is 7km from the base of the turn-off from the road into Sungai Palas tea estate to the peak and is a steep uphill climb. Best not to make it in the afternoon as it can get quite hot during the climb.
