Looking for an adventure in a different part of the world is not always easy. Having Michael as our guide gave us the opportunity not only to do White Water Rafting, Canyoning & Cave Exploration, but we also got a real sense of Malaysia as a culture.

Equipment for Caving

Tempurung Cave I Mulu Caves

The list below are guideline only

Helmet (Caving or Rock-Climbing Helmet or Construction Helmet).

Head Lights & Spare Torchlight's (minimum 2 spare torchlight's) (preferable waterproof Torchlight's).

Spare Bulbs & Spare Batteries wrap them up in a plastic bag.

Trekking Shoes, Tennis Shoes, Jogging Shoes or Wellington Boots. (while Caving participants are not allowed to wear sandals nor slippers).

Overall, Long Sleeved T-shirt & Long Pants or shorts for Caving. (To protect one from cuts, scratches, insect bites, dirt & etc.) - No Jeans please.

 

Do's and Don'ts while Caving (for Tourist)

Take Nothing but Photographs
Leave Nothing but Footprints
Kill Nothing but Time

Basic Equipment for tourist while Caving

  • Helmet

  • Shoes

  • Lighting (headlamp would be better choice), with a spare torchlight and spare batteries.

  • Drinking water (min. 0.5L), some snack, even you are going for 1 hour caving.

Impact on Caves with Irresponsible tourists and irresponsible cave guides.

Noise pollutions, Noise Pollution, if and when possible, please avoid it. Human noise (voice) are the most dangerous pollutions inside the cave, where it will effect the cave Ecology & Eco-system

Impacts and danger, goodbye to all the leaving creature inside the cave, such as Bats, cave crickets, cave centrepite, cave racer (cave snake), trap door spider (living fossil) and etc 

Jumping in the Cave, one have to be really careful as some cave floor are holeloh undernight, most of the time it will cave in with you.

Loud Speakers, were bro in to the cave by travel agent to control the crowd (tourist).

Candles & Lighters or  Matches for emergency lighting and them up in a dry bag.

Personal Medical Kit to your requirements.

Whistle.

Water 1L (minimum) & Some Snacks. (take extra food & water even if you are going for day trip)

Change of clothes.

Plastic Bags for garbage & waste.

Toiletries.

Reflector (2" x 3") 3 pcs per person, for those who are going for "exploration only".

Car or Small Lorry inner tube & Valve opener for "exploration only", useful for water caves.
